Keko'a is about to graduate from Middle School 🤙🏻👍🏻
We finally did both Hilton Hawaiian Village last weekend and enjoyed Lappert's Hawaii 🍦. We really liked it as we're able to order the waffle cone with the tester (5 flavors). I tried Liliko'i, Kona Coffee and Green Tea and they all tasted very good. Great? No. There're better - I would say, I wished that it were more creamy... 🤤 We then had Markame Udon 🍜 this Saturday and parked at International Market Place - no more walking for 5 minutes minimum and looking for a spot on Ala Wai Blvd for 30+ minutes! With $10 purchase validation, 2 hours parking only $2 at IMP (1st free, 2nd $2). Too bad that those Teslas took all the free EV charging spots because their own charging network was down.
On Sun we went to Chuck e Cheese in Kalihi's City Square. It was kind of a let down because (1) it kind of smell in there and (2) the prizes were that great. Now CS was utterly retro in terms of grocery shopping - like in Hong Kong during the 70's and early 80's! Tomorrow we'll go back to try some of the places YouTubers have recommended in that plaza. We then went to Ala Moana Center to shop for Hawaiian Shirt for Keko'a so that he can wear it during his graduation ceremony. We already got the lei several days earlier. We got it from ROSS (lowest price with greatest selections) after checking out Uniqlo (nice ones but lack of UT Graphics style there, and more than double the price vs ROSS even though Uniqlo's having a Hawaii sale currently) and Chinatown (around $13 but went as high as $20, but we're concerned about the quality mostly) - where we had dim sum @ Ginger and Garlic for lunch and Lam's Kitchen take out for dinner. Keko'a actually felt that G&G was better than THW except for the atmosphere and "level of service/presentation." Ma'e Ma'e - well, she's anti-Chinese food anyhow so we didn't even bother to ask for her comment 🤣
Renovation is about 70% complete now but the main hurdle is the front. Garage is being painted (multiple times and still has to re-do due to high temperature causing paint to bubble up), and the used-to-be Koi pond is being damaged by yucky fish poop water 🤮💩 due to a mistake by the worker. We've actually started to unpack and 90% of the boxes "in-door" have been unpacked (that's about 40% of everything).
