April Busy 4 da Cheung's! (ABC)

Yup a really busy month!!!

On Earth Day the family went to Marina Science Museum @ RWC to attend its ED fair.  Ke'koa's so excited about the "mini beach" (he compared it with the much bigger beaches in Maui).  No boat ride this time as it cost some $40/passenger (adult or kid),

but they got to touch the sharks!  Well, really, a baby tiger shark, but still...

And after that, we went to Bangkok Bay.  Look how happy Ma'e Ma'e was?  She made a shish kabob from the honey barbecue pork and pineapple (from p-fried rice), put them on a stick from the chicken satay that she has finished.

April = Spring Break for the Belmont/RWS School District.  We were thinking of going to Rock'n Jump initially, but they were a bit scared over there because there were just too many people- especially big kids, and the staff there didn't - at least when we went there the last 3 times - really care about who's playing what.  As a result, big kids hogging little kids' plays, also playing rough, and playing for VERY long time for those big kids (friends of the staff).  Good thing is, they are still very fond of PIU, so that's where we went (w/o mommy knowing).  They had blast of fun there.

Now that Ma'e Ma'e knows how to ride a bike without training wheels, we went to a couple of bike adventures.  We probably rode a total of 8 miles in 2 days.  That's a lot for the little kids, especially for Ma'e Ma'e, who still struggled a bit in the off-road terrain along the shores.  But at the end of the day, she loved the ride, and that's all it mattered.

After 4 (or is it 3?) years of hiatus, we finally went to the Jelly Belly factory, again.  This time, with Ma'e Ma'e (didn't bring her last time as she was just a year old or so).  Ke'koa still liked it, and so did Ma'e Ma'e initially, because she's never been there before, and there were a lot of JB freebies.  However, at the end of the factory tour, she's not really into it anymore as there's really no "game" for her to play there.  I guess that she was thinking of Gilroy Gardens-like JB factory, with rides, fairs, and whatnot.

Nope.

Both loved their lunch, as the pizza and burger were JB shaped.

For Spring, we signed them up for i9 soccer, but this really is the last time we would do i9.  It's really unorganized, because i9 almost utterly depends on the (attendance) volunteer coach.  More troublesome is the fact that the coach may - and in the case of Ke'koa, really does - NOT know anything about the sports itself.  As a result, he really hasn't learnt anything about soccer this time, especially when compared to the things he learnt from soccer smiles and kids love soccer (real coaches).  Ma'e Ma'e a bit lucky, as the coach does know a bit about soccer, but again, it's not like the other 2 (which they actually TEACH).

The sad news (to mommy) here is that both kids have taken a break (a temporary, but most likely permanent) from ice-skating.  Ke'koa has had 2 unsuccessful attempts to achieve the Gamma level, despite having practices a lot more.  He's really devastated from not reaching the level, with the effort he's put into it :(

It's really tough, and I observed that he's probably the only one in the group lesson that's NOT taking any private lesson from the coaches (those that passed, all have private + public lessons).  It's getting really too much time and money too, as it cost some $120 per PUBLIC session, per kid.  They are really doing low level figure skating skills at this point (they both know how to skate - with high speed - currently), so there's really no point in putting more money into repeating another session, for figure skating skills that they really don't need (especially since they aren't going to do any show, or compete in any match).  Ma'e Ma'e passed Alpha level, and she would have been going to Beta, but again, same reasoning, especially with the fact that with Ke'koa not going, we aren't driving all the way (a 20 min drive 1 way) to the ring.  There's a ring in Belmont, but that's even more expensive (lessons).

So what's next?  Trying to decide kung-fu (or Tae Kwon Do), golf, basketball, and whatnot to fill the time slot.  Cheaper, and they will enjoy more.

Now that SB is over, my life's finally back!!!
