Bummer, what a sudden turn of tide!!!

Darn it!!!

Over the weekend, I received an e-mail from my "new" company's (the smaller biotech company - let's call it "DD") immigration attorney (actually, it was the assistant), who asked for a bunch of documents to be faxed to her...in addition to the ones that I've already sent a week ago. That was 60 pages of fax that I faxed to the law firm. Turned out early today that company "misunderstood" the visa concept; for the visa that I'm applying - yes, I can get the approval in 3 weeks, but I can't start working 'til Oct. 1. (That's for the H-1B visa.) As a result, they would like to get me a TN visa concurrently with the H-1B. But for them to do so, they need to consult with the marketing director of the company, who's "out" for the week. Thus, they decided to halt the entire visa application process until they've heard a response from the director.

What the hell? Why couldn't they start working on the H-1B and begin the TN afterwards? There's a quota for H-1B, and the current quota will be filled by today/tomorrow (very very border line)! Despite the fact that I've asked them to be very aware of the H-1B situation due to the quota, they just decided to drop the ball and stop working on the visa case.

If they ultimately decide to go with the TN 1st, and H-1B later on, I'll NOT accept their offers...it turns out that the 4th largest company of this world...let's call it "MBI," has offered me an engineering position for $4000 more than DD's offer, and with possibly better benefits too! (DD pays me $57000.) The visa procedure that MBI is going will turn out to be identical to DD, if DD doesn't go ahead with my H-1B application NOW! Basically, MBI's visa offer is TN now, H-1B on the renewal, and hopefully green card afterwards.

I spent many hours gathering the fax documents for the H-1B visa over the weekend, and right now it all seems to have been wasted by DD's decision :( I'm really surprised and disappointed with DD's lack of decision and motivation, and I'm not too happy right now!!!
